ReNuke Services is seeking a Nuclear Civil Design Engineer III for our client"s site in Southport, NC!
Description:
The Duke Energy Corporate Design Engineering (CDE) Department is responsible for the implementation of a fleet portfolio that includes design solutions supporting risk reduction, equipment obsolescence, and plant modernization. The Brunswick Nuclear Plant (BNP) CDE Civil/Structural team manages the capital engineering change (EC) portfolio at the two-unit BNP nuclear plant site. The team collaborates with other CDE disciplines and cross functional teams to ensure that high quality design solutions are delivered to meet site needs and project milestone requirements.
Requesting an experienced Civil Design Engineer for the Brunswick Nuclear Plant in Southport, NC

The selected individual will perform engineering work for Civil/Structural projects within the BNP CDE organization. Will work with various stakeholders including operations personnel, maintenance personnel, other engineering disciplines, and various other stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient operation of nuclear facilities. Individual will be required to qualify in the necessary duty areas to act independently as a Responsible Engineer for Duke Energy with past qualifications and engineering product development other utilities as an acceptable alternative.

Individual will be required to obtain qualifications for a Modification Engineer and Design Verification Engineer prior to working independently. Selected individual will act as a Lead Technical and/or Responsible Engineer for assigned projects and/or in a support capacity for projects led by other engineering disciplines. Individual will provide field engineering support during implementation, develop change package revisions, complete post modification testing activities, and facilitate turnover of design products to the Operations department.

Implementation activities follow a site schedule and the selected individual may occasionally be required to support the implementation phase during off normal hours.
Responsibilities
* Develop the scope, design inputs, technical evaluations, installation instructions, and testing requirements for engineering design change packages. These include, but are not limited to, piping systems, pipe supports, equipment and component mounting, weak link evaluations, seismic qualifications, foundation design, etc
* Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternative solutions, and provide the recommended option to a project team for implementation
* Provide ongoing support of assigned engineering design changes through work order reviews, corrective action program assignments, and field installation support activities
* Develop or revise design specifications or technical requirement documents to support engineering design changes
* Develop or revise complex engineering calculations impacted by engineering design changes
* Develop safety screens and evaluations that support engineering design changes
* Revise site design basis documents, design drawings, and regulatory documents impacted by engineering design changes
* Exhibit sound technical judgment and provide guidance to project teams
* All work will be reviewed and verified by a qualified engineer and approved by Duke management

Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor"s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (BSCE) or equivalent BS degree with relevant work experience
* 10+ years engineering experience in the nuclear industry with experience in Civil/Structural Design Modification preparation
* Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (General Employee Training, Radiation Worker Training, Security Clearance checks and subject to the site"s Fitness for Duty Program)
* Strong oral / written communication skills within a professional environment
* Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
* Experience with the nuclear industry standard design process
* Must be able to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
* Registration/Licensure as a Professional Engineer
* Civil/Structural Design engineering experience at the Brunswick Nuclear Plant
* Experience in the 10CFR50.59 with respect to designing modifications to a nuclear facility
