About the Position This is a part-time position (typically April until October or November). Able to work late hours from 6:30 pm until route is finished, possibly midnight. Work schedule varies from 5 to 20 hours per week depending upon weather.
Additional work hours involving other mosquito control activities may be added on as needed basis. Performs intermediate semiskilled work eradicating mosquitos, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Vector Control Supervisor.
Job Duties Prepares truck for nightly pesticide spray. Operates fogging equipment on designated routes; applies approved pesticides and larvicides in an effort to minimize infestation. Performs equipment maintenance.
Position Qualifications General knowledge of the methods, procedures, hazards, tools and equipment used in or associated with dispensing pesticides for controlling carriers of vector borne diseases; general knowledge in the application of pesticides; ability to operate all necessary equipment and machinery; ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates and others. Education, Experience and Supplemental Information High school diploma or GED. Valid driver's license.
