Reports to: Director of Mathematics PK-12 Pay Grade: AP 3 - 197 Days
Department/School: Educational Services Division Date Revised: August 01, 2025
Primary Purpose:
To facilitate the design and delivery of Mathematics curriculum and instruction to maximize student learning.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • Master's degree or advanced training in instruction preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Mathematics
  • A valid Texas teacher certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to work effectively with principals, teachers, students, and community
  • Ability to conduct staff development and/or mentor teachers
  • Ability to develop curriculum activities and TEKS-based assessments
  • Experience in facilitating the planning and application of emerging technologies in the classroom

Preferred Experience:
  • Three years of teaching experience in middle school Mathematics
  • Administrative or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience in facilitating the planning and application of emerging technologies in the classroom

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Support improvement efforts through activities such as collaborating in the development and articulation of a common vision of improvement and ensuring continuous renewal of curriculum, policies, and methods
  2. Improve district, campus, and student achievement through state and local assessments
  3. Promote the improvement of instructions through activities such as assisting teachers in designing learning experiences for students.
  4. Provide instructional leadership for the implementation of the math curriculum.
  5. Provide model teaching at the campus level when appropriate
  6. Provide professional development in the area of math in conjunction with district needs
  7. Demonstrate leadership skills at the district and campus levels.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment;
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 30 pounds)
Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions. District-wide and statewide travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
Other: Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures; Other duties as assigned
