Job description

The Manager, Inbound Logistics, is responsible for end-to-end inbound flow execution from Lagerhaus & third-party copackers into our network third-party warehouses, ensuring product is received on-time, in-full, and efficiently within warehouse capacity constraints.
This role partners cross-functionally with Supply Planning, Order Management, Warehouse Operations, and third-party logistics providers to proactively manage inbound volume, optimize receiving performance, and resolve upstream supply or transportation constraints.
The position plays a critical role in balancing forecasted supply, transportation execution, and warehouse capacity to ensure uninterrupted product flow into the network.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • PLANNING, FORECASTING & CAPACITY MANAGEMENT
    Maintain, execute, and analyze the Warehouse Forecasting Model to regulate inbound flows within warehouse space and throughput capacity constraints
    Maintain, execute, and analyze the Lagerhaus Deployment Model to align Supply Planning with available capacity targets (shipping and receiving)
    Partner with Manager, Logistics Planning to determine weekly shipping targets and capacity limitations that guide daily logistics execution out of Lagerhaus
    Work closely with Supply Planning to ensure orders are released on time to meet weekly shipping targets and confirm 3PL readiness for execution
    Solicit, interpret, and communicate inbound forecasts to third-party warehouses and key carrier partners to ensure preparedness for volume fluctuations
  • INBOUND EXECUTION & FLOW CONTROL
    Monitor open PO tracking and investigate past-due deliveries, with emphasis on priority shipments
    Assist Order Management on urgent inbound arrivals to ensure product is received in time to support outbound order release
    Manage and resolve inbound exceptions, including appointment issues, ASN/GI gaps, capacity constraints, and unplanned arrivals
    Serve as the escalation point for inbound delivery failures and drive root-cause resolution
  • WAREHOUSE OPERATIONS & RECEIVING PERFORMANCE
    Monitor third-party dock-to-stock performance and follow up on past-due receipts
    Ensure alignment with warehouse operations on receiving priorities, capacity constraints, and execution readiness
    Support weekend and off-hour receiving strategies, particularly during peak or weather-impacted periods
  • CARRIER & NETWORK PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
    Monitor and analyze intermodal carrier performance to minimize dwell and detention charges and reduce total transit time
    Ensure carriers and 3PL partners are aligned to inbound priorities, timing expectations, and execution requirements
    Drive performance improvements through ongoing monitoring, communication, and escalation
  • RISK MANAGEMENT & SEASONAL PLANNING
    Utilize weather reporting (particularly during winter months) to make informed decisions on transportation mode, service levels, and shipment timing
    Proactively adjust inbound plans to mitigate delays and ensure continuity of supply
    Ensure contingency plans (including alternative routing and weekend receiving) are in place when risk is identified
  • CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COORDINATION & COMMUNICATION
    Host weekly alignment meetings with internal teams and third-party logistics partners to review forecasts, special programs, and open challenges
    Partner with Supply Planning to identify high-priority receipts and ensure proactive monitoring and escalation across carriers and warehouses
    Communicate inbound risks, priorities, and execution updates clearly across all stakeholders

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business or related field (preferred, but not required)
  • 5+ years of experience in Logistics related roles such as: Logistics Manager, Transportation Manager, Operations Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Logistics Planner, Logistics Specialist, Transportation Planner, Carrier Development, Logistics Analyst.
  • Self-motivated team member who can drive issue resolution with strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Analytical skills with ability to interpret KPIs, monitor for trends, & identify areas of opportunity to improve both cost & execution performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, eager to service both internal & external stakeholders by providing exceptional levels of customer service & strong focus on follow-through.
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize projects & tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing or working for third party logistics providers, transportation carriers, or transportation brokers.
  • Knowledge & experience with ERP, TM, & WMS software (SAP &/or Mercury Gate preferred)
  • Advanced user in MS Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word)
