Medical Assistant / Receptionist
Lighthouse Medical Care
Location: Corolla, NC
Lighthouse Medical Care is looking for a friendly, dependable, and organized Medical Assistant / Receptionist to join our primary care practice. This position combines both front office and clinical responsibilities in a small, patient-focused medical office.
Schedule
  • Full-time through Labor Day
  • Part-time after Labor Day (seasonal schedule)

Responsibilities
Front Office
  • Greet and check in patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and assist with patient questions.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the provider's daily schedule.
  • Verify insurance information and collect copays and balances.
  • Register new patients and update patient information.
  • Process referrals, prior authorizations, and medical records requests.
  • Respond to patient portal messages and perform general administrative duties.
Clinical
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs.
  • Record medical histories, medications, and chief complaints.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and assist the provider during office visits.
  • Administer injections, perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and other clinical duties within scope of practice.
  • Process prescription refill requests and coordinate laboratory testing.
  • Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (Athenahealth experience is a plus).
  • Maintain exam rooms and keep supplies stocked.
  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control guidelines.

Qualifications
  • Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred but not required.
  • Experience in family medicine or primary care is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Comfortable balancing both front desk and clinical responsibilities.
  • Experience with Athenahealth or another electronic medical record system is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Reliable, professional, and compassionate.
