Alliance Consulting Group is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support the evaluation, planning, and design of fire protection and life-safety systems for federal, military, healthcare, institutional, and mission-critical facilities.

In this role, you will perform code analyses, develop fire suppression and fire alarm designs, conduct existing facility assessments, prepare construction documents, and coordinate fire protection requirements with multidisciplinary design teams. This role provides the opportunity to work directly with experienced technical leaders and project managers, interact with federal clients, and gain broad experience across the full project lifecycle. You will support Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects from initial planning and concept development through final design and construction administration.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer with the technical judgment, communication skills, and initiative necessary to independently execute defined engineering assignments while collaborating with technical leaders, project managers, and multidisciplinary design teams.

If you hold a bachelorโ€™s or masterโ€™s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and are driven to innovate โ€“ we invite you to apply today. This position requires authorization to work in the United States.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, evaluate, and design fire protection and life-safety systems for new construction, renovations, additions, and existing facilities.
  • Prepare fire suppression, fire alarm, mass notification, and life-safety drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and design analyses.
  • Perform sprinkler hydraulic calculations, hazard classifications, fire-flow analyses, water-demand calculations, and fire-pump evaluations.
  • Evaluate wet-pipe, dry-pipe, pre-action, standpipe, fire-pump, and special-hazard suppression systems.
  • Design and evaluate fire alarm, detection, emergency communication, and mass notification systems.
  • Perform building and life-safety code analyses addressing occupancy classifications, construction types, allowable areas, means of egress, fire-resistance ratings, and required protection systems.
  • Conduct field investigations and existing-condition assessments to identify fire protection and life-safety deficiencies.
  • Review hydrant flow-test data, fire-pump curves, equipment data, delegated-design calculations, and contractor shop drawings.
  • Coordinate fire protection requirements with architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, security, and telecommunications disciplines.
  • Apply applicable requirements of the International Building Code, International Fire Code, NFPA standards, Unified Facilities Criteria, and agency-specific design criteria.
  • Prepare coordinated construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and other approved design platforms.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, BIM coordination meetings, planning charrettes, client presentations, and technical workshops.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 yearsโ€™ experience designing, evaluating, and implementing fire protection systems โ€“ independently or under senior guidance
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET-accredited university; or Bachelorโ€™s degree in any engineering discipline combined with a Masterโ€™s degree in Fire Protection Engineering
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Fire Protection Engineering in at least one U.S. jurisdiction โ€“ Alliance may consider an exceptional candidate actively pursuing licensure who offers specialized experience of particular value
  • Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong understanding of and experience preparing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, design analysis, and project documentation including budgets and schedules
  • Working knowledge of applicable fire protection and life-safety codes, including the International Building Code, International Fire Code, NFPA 13, NFPA 72, and NFPA 101
  • Ability to travel to project sites and satisfy applicable federal client access requirements
Preferred [but not required]
