Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. (HACAP) is a dynamic nonprofit organization committed to enhancing the lives of families and individuals in our communities across nine counties. We believe in the power of collaboration, working alongside for-profit businesses, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and local community members to create stronger, healthier communities.
Position Overview:
Application Deadline: August 30, 2026.
Job Title: LIHEAP Seasonal Administrative Assistant.
Position Type: Seasonal, 40 hours per week (limited status).
Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
Pay Range: $18.19 - $19.56 hourly depending on education and experience.
This is a seasonal position with an end date of April 1, 2027.
Position Goal:
The LIHEAP Seasonal Administrative Assistant is responsible for working with clients in need of assistance with heat and electric assistance. This position is responsible for answering phone calls for housing stabilization, making appointments, completing intake, and application processing for Energy Assistance.
This position will be based out of our Waterfront Office and will be required to travel to Washington County two days per week. The approximate start date for this position is on October 1, 2026 and will end on April 1, 2027.

Qualifications & Conditions of Employment:
Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • AA in Business Administration or one (1) year of experience in Human Services preferred.
  • Work experience to demonstrate:
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills and active listening skills.
    • Ability to learn, apply, and train on new technology.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with limited supervision.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and standard software such as Word, Excel, and databases.
