Summary Statement

The Department of Transportation Maintenance and Operations is looking for people to\r\nhelp with snow and ice removal for the 2026/2027 winter season. Positions available are Non-CDL\r\nEquipment Operator (operation of trucks, under 26,000 GVWR, for clearing roads, loaders for\r\nmaterial supply, etc.) and CDL Equipment Operator. Employees must have a valid CDL and medical card\r\nwith expiration date of March 31, 2027, or later when applying for the CDL Equipment Operator.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENT for Equipment Operator/CDL Equipment Operator\r\n1. Must be 18 years of age or older.\r\n2. Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).\r\n3. Knowledge of experience with snow and ice control.\r\n\r\n

Conditions of Hire

DelDOT does not provide employment-based sponsorship.\r\nDelDOT Medical Exam: Applicants who meet the job requirements for the position, and who are made a\r\nconditional offer of employment, shall be required to meet the physical qualifications and\r\nexamination requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations to hold a\r\ncommercial driver's license unless they are approved for either an Intra-State CDL Waiver of a\r\nFederal Waiver or Exemption. In addition, applicants must not have incurred four or more serious\r\ntraffic violations during the previous three years as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Code. The Department of Transportation will obtain driving\r\nrecord information maintained by the Division of Motor Vehicles for the\r\npreceding three year period.\r\nAs a condition of hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or\r\ncancelled, or disqualified from driving).\r\nCriminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of\r\nhire.The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as\r\npart of the conditional offer of hire.As a condition of hire, you must possess a valid CDL Class A or B driver's license (not suspended,\r\nrevoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving).\r\n\r\n\r\nAll new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.\r\n
