Major Duties:
The incumbent will assist with laboratory studies and data analysis. Will be responsible for performing and assisting with laboratory experiments including cell culture and staining of tissue sections. May also perform: perfusion fixation of rodents and processing brains for histological examination. Incumbent will also genotype animals, assist with animal experiments, run DNA gels and western blots. This includes gene delivery experiments, and genotyping of transgenic animals. In concert with the staff of the Animal Facility and the Principle Investigator, the incumbent will help evaluate the health, well-being, and behavior of the animals before, during and after research experiments. Incumbent will using standard methods to obtain, process, and examine laboratory animals; measure, harvest tissue specimens and physiologic fluids; utilize standard methods and procedures to obtain, process, and examine laboratory animal behavior while ensuring safe and humane processes are used with critical concern for the welfare of the animals.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/06/2026.
Experience:

• Using standard methods to obtain, process, and examine laboratory animals
• Measure, harvest tissue specimens and physiologic fluids
• Utilize standard methods and procedures to obtain, process, and examine laboratory animal behavior
• Ensuring safe and humane processes are used with critical concern for the welfare of the animals

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
