Front Desk Agent Position at The Harborside Inn

The Harborside Inn is now hiring front desk agents for its 2026 season! These positions are located on Martha's Vineyard. Shared dormitory-style housing is available.

The Harborside Inn is Martha's Vineyard's premier waterfront resort, located on the harbor in the heart of Edgartown. With 90 guest rooms and luxury hotel amenities, it is the perfect place to vacation in the heart of Edgartown with all the galleries, dining, shops, and nightlife the town has to offer.

Anticipated Dates:

Our full season is from April 1, 2026 through November 18, 2026. All positions, including seasonal roles, remain employment-at-will. Preference may be given to those available full season. However, those unable to work a full season are not necessarily automatically disqualified. Start and end dates may be flexible.

Position Description

The Front Desk Agent plays a key role in our mission to deliver world-class service and products and a memorable vacation experience to everyone who passes through our doors. They ensure every single guest and owner has an enjoyable experience at the Inn. This includes greeting everyone and making sure the reservation, check-in, and check-out experiences are positive. They also ensure all concerns are resolved, make suggestions on activities and dining, store luggage, and complete daily shift checklists. They also partner with other departments and team members to provide the best overall experiences possible.

Operationally Related:

  • Greeting guests and owners and providing a first point of contact to the property in a manner that creates an excellent first impression.
  • Checking guests in and out of the property.
  • Collecting all necessary information accurately while registering guests and owners into the computer system.
  • Making reservations and processing cancellations.
  • Resolving the concerns of both guests and owners
  • Completing daily shift checklists as applicable.
  • Documenting all guest and owner communications in the departmental log
  • Maintaining a cash bank and reporting discrepancies to management.
  • Upselling services and accommodations as appropriate.
  • Updating availability in the computer system as needed.
  • Partnering with the housekeeping department in keeping room status reports up to date and coordinating requests for maintenance and repair work.
  • Assisting with luggage for both owners and guests as needed.
  • Assisting in other roles as needed.

Guest Service Related:

  • Initiating conversations with guests and owners and being attentive to them.
  • Obtaining the necessary knowledge to provide information and recommendations to guests and owners
  • Arriving to work as scheduled and following the property's attendance guidelines.
  • Attending meetings and training as requested.
  • Practicing all safety guidelines of the organization and reporting safety concerns to management.
  • Adhering to organizational guidelines/policies/expectations as well as federal, state, and local laws, including the property's confidentiality expectations.

Qualifications:

All of our team members are passionate about guest service and helping others. They initiate conversations, anticipate the needs of others, and interact with others in a courteous and efficient manner. They love being a team player and are detail-oriented as well as flexible/adaptable. They are able to work a flexible work week including nights, weekends, and holidays. They understand maintaining confidentiality is important. This position primarily works indoors. Previous front desk is preferred but is not necessarily required. Experience with Microsoft Office Products, especially Excel, is helpful as is familiarity with property management systems. Position involves lifting and carrying items 10 to 20 pounds.
