Graduate Assistant Coach - eSports

Primary Responsibilities
St. Lawrence University is currently seeking applicants for a Graduate Assistant for Esports. This 9-month position (August, 2026 - May, 2027) is targeted toward graduate students seeking a master's degree. Remuneration includes a very competitive coaching stipend, student health insurance, and eligibility for tuition remission (6 graduate classes per year in the University's graduate program). St Lawrence offers Graduate programs in Educational Leadership.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction, and must have the knowledge and ability to coach/teach various titles through coaching strategy, in-game communication, team coordination, and teaching mechanical skills. Titles may include (League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, and additional titles TBA).
  • Communicate with possible recruits and coordinate on-campus visits.
  • Assist in managing all dimensions of the esports program to include maintaining the esports arena, managing and maintaining equipment, manage social media accounts, and research news and trends that affect the delivery, impact and message of the esports program.
  • Host and develop community initiatives like tournaments, special projects, summer camps and clinics.
  • Coordinate with sports information staff to help market and promote esports.
  • Promote student retention and facilitate interpersonal development between teammates.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to meet the requirements to drive University vehicles required.
  • Must apply and be accepted in the graduate program at St. Lawrence University.

Preferred Qualifications
Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred.
