Seasonal Full Stack Developer information

What is a seasonal full stack developer?

A Seasonal Full Stack Developer is a software engineer hired on a temporary or contract basis, typically during peak periods, to work on both front-end and back-end development tasks. They are proficient in a range of programming languages and frameworks, allowing them to handle the complete development process of web applications. These roles are often found in companies with cyclical workloads or special projects that require additional resources for a limited time. Seasonal Full Stack Developers collaborate with other team members to ensure that applications are built efficiently and meet the company's needs during busy seasons.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a seasonal full stack developer?

To thrive as a Seasonal Full Stack Developer, you need proficiency in both front-end and back-end programming languages (such as JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and Python), along with a relevant degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with frameworks like React or Angular, backend systems like Node.js or Django, and version control tools such as Git are typically required. Strong problem-solving, time management, and collaboration skills help you adapt quickly to short-term projects and dynamic team environments. These skills ensure that you can deliver quality software solutions efficiently during peak demand periods.

What are some common challenges faced by seasonal full stack developers, and how can they prepare for them?

Seasonal Full Stack Developers often face the challenge of quickly adapting to new codebases and workflows within a short timeframe. Since these roles typically support high-demand periods, developers must rapidly familiarize themselves with the team's tech stack and project requirements. Effective communication and proactive learning are key to overcoming these challenges. Collaborating closely with permanent team members and utilizing onboarding resources can help ensure a smooth integration and maximize contributions during the contract period.

Can you be a part-time full stack developer?

A seasonal full stack developer role typically requires full-time commitment during the season, but some companies may offer part-time or flexible schedules depending on project needs. It is less common to find part-time full stack developer positions, as the role often involves comprehensive responsibilities that benefit from full-time availability. Candidates should review specific job postings for schedule details and employer expectations.

Is a seasonal full stack developer still in demand?

Seasonal full stack developers are still in demand, especially during peak project periods or for short-term needs. Employers seek developers with skills in frameworks like React or Node.js, and experience with cloud services, making these roles valuable for flexible, project-based work.

Accountable for results and best in class outcomes
Visionary in future focused problem-solving
Exceptional in execution and impact
The Role
As a full-stack Software Engineer III on our Satori AI Platform team, you will be building the interfaces and APIs that our Fortune 500 customers use to deploy, monitor, and control AI security agents across their environments - and to understand exactly what those agents are doing on their behalf.
The primary focus of this position is frontend engineering with React and its surrounding ecosystem, but the workload spans our entire stack: rich web interfaces that stay fast while visualizing large volumes of usage, cost, and forecasting data; the middle-tier API surface that powers those interfaces; and the automation that deploys and monitors your work. We regularly put prototypes in front of customers to validate ideas mid-flight, so you can't just heads-down code in a vacuum. This is a uniquely challenging role: we empower small teams to make large impacts, the scale of our event data is legitimately huge, and we're building product that is mission-critical to our customers 24/7/365.
Your day-to-day
  • Participate in customer feedback sessions to understand customer needs and build products customers are genuinely excited to use
  • Design and build React interfaces used by large enterprise customers that are clean, accessible, and actually usable - not just feature-complete
  • Turn dense data (usage metering, credit balances, spending caps, consumption forecasts, agent lifecycle state) into visualizations and workflows that communicate clearly at a glance
  • Build and evolve the API routes that power your interfaces, and shape the contracts between front end and back end
  • Tune performance across the stack - time to first interaction, render performance over large datasets, API response times, and payload size
  • Debug production issues that span the browser, the API tier, and our cloud-based data platform
  • Write automation that deploys and monitors your systems in the cloud
  • Continually ship and test your work; learn new techniques through peer review and mentorship, and share what you learn with your peers

What you bring to the team
  • A passion not just for development, but for the end-user experience - you sweat the details customers feel
  • An ability and desire to reason through customer feedback and quickly validate prototype solutions
  • A high bar for your code's design, testability, and performance
  • Strong experience building applications with React and modern front-end tooling (TypeScript, a modern build/bundler toolchain, component and state management patterns, and automated testing)
  • Solid command of the web platform fundamentals: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience building and consuming HTTP/REST APIs, and comfort working at least one layer into the back end that serves your UI
  • Experience presenting large or complex datasets in the browser (data visualization, virtualization, pagination, or streaming) with an eye on performance
  • Experience debugging production problems that span multiple stack components
  • A B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
