Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a seasonal Assistant Warehouse Supervisor to support rail car and truck shipping through the preparation of case goods, drums, and bins with the use of inventory control systems, associated documentation, personnel and time management. Develops and maintains processes and procedures to ensure accurate and productive work activities for all warehousing functions. Ensures orders are fulfilled in a timely manner and within budget at our TomaTek plant in Firebaugh, CA. This is a seasonal position supporting our fresh pack season, typically June – October.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and directs personnel including foreman, leads, forklift operators, general labor and clerical staff.
  • Conducts role call for all warehouse departments.
  • Monitors to ensure adequate staffing is maintained for completion of work for all required activities according to defined standards and procedures and to ensure efficient day-to-day operations of the warehouse; communicates any attendance discrepancies to Human Resources.
  • Ensures adequate supplies of materials are available to support the production process.
  • Ensures the loading of trucks, sea containers, intermodal and railcars are completed accurately and free of damage.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics/warehousing or a closely related field; or any combination of knowledge, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to supervise and effectively communicate with employees; some experience with union environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
