Job description

About Us: Kianalei Capital is a private family office operation with debt and equity investments in professional services, hospitality, real estate, and other industries. The firm is an active investor, playing an advisory role in operations and board governance.

Kianalei Capital is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Financial Analyst to join our team in Austin.

The ideal candidate will provide oversight to accounting and finance functions across multiple US client companies, bringing structure, rigor, and scalability to financial reporting. This role requires a hands-on professional who thrives in fast-paced, startup environments, can manage competing priorities with minimal direction, and has a strong foundation in both finance and accounting practices.

This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of being in the office regularly to collaborate with team members. Our office includes amenities such as a gym and other perks.
What You Will Do:

  • Work directly with the Chairman of Kianalei to monitor and improve the performance of the investment portfolio
  • Review monthly financial statements for accuracy and performance to plan
  • Audit cash flows and monthly bank reconciliations across the entire portfolio
  • Develop financial planning and forecasting models to support annual budgeting
  • Provide analysis and insights to leadership to support strategic decision-making
  • Coach business leaders on operational and financial performance improvement
  • Keep the books and serve as the general manager of a handful of low-transaction-volume businesses
  • Manage a monthly cash flow forecast and allocate funds as necessary
  • Develop quarterly and annual consolidated financial reports for the investment firm
  • Validate intercompany accounting and ensure consistency of inter-entity balances
  • Collaborate with external auditors and support annual audit processes
  • Collaborate with external tax accountants to support annual filing requirements
  • Improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows to support scalability
  • Support financial forecasting, client presentations, and ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Perform due diligence for the acquisition of both healthy and distressed assets
  • Operate effectively in a dynamic, startup environment, balancing multiple priorities with minimal direction
  • Work your tail off, learn a ton, have a tremendous amount of fun, and eventually make good money

Your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related analytical field
  • 2 - 4 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial statement analysis, and valuation methods
  • Strong foundation in US GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience with, or a willingness to learn, accounting in QuickBooks
  • Ability to improve, document, and scale accounting processes
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with little to no direction
  • Willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Applicants must have authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Sage, M3, or QuickBooks accounting software
  • Previous experience in due diligence for acquisitions or divestitures
  • Experience in professional services, VC, PE, or family office environments
  • Experience using AI to automate analysis, reporting, and compliance
  • Experience working in a small company or startup environment
  • End-to-end ownership of processes with a collaborative approach

Why Kianalei Capital?
