Senior Financial Analyst
Department: Accounting / Administrative Secretariat
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000

Position Summary
The Archdiocese of New Orleans is seeking an experienced and highly analytical Senior
Financial Analyst to support the financial management of the Archdiocese's Administrative Offices,
Catholic schools, and other ministries. This position serves as a key financial resource by
providing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analytical support that enables
leadership to make informed operational and strategic decisions.

The Senior Financial Analyst will coordinate the annual operating budget process for the
Administrative Offices, assist Catholic schools in preparing annual budgets, develop cash flow
forecasts, perform financial analyses of Archdiocesan departments, schools, and parishes, and
prepare recurring and ad hoc reports for executive leadership.

The successful candidate is an experienced finance professional who enjoys solving problems,
working with complex financial information, and translating data into meaningful recommendations.
This individual must be highly organized, capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously,
and comfortable working independently while collaborating with leaders throughout the Archdiocese.
Essential Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
• Coordinate the annual operating budget process for the Archdiocese's Administrative Offices.
• Work collaboratively with department leaders to develop annual operating budgets.
• Analyze departmental budget submissions and prepare comparisons to prior-year actual results,
current-year projections, and historical trends.
• Monitor departmental financial performance throughout the year and identify significant
variances.
• Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial analyses for executive leadership.

• Develop financial models, forecasts, and business analyses that support strategic and
operational decision-making.
• Prepare professional financial reports and presentations for senior leadership.

Cash Flow Forecasting
• Develop and maintain short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts for the Archdiocese.
• Analyze cash receipts, disbursements, and operating trends to improve cash management.
• Assist leadership in identifying future cash needs and liquidity risks.
• Recommend improvements to forecasting methodologies and reporting.

School Financial Support
• Assist Catholic schools with the preparation of annual operating budgets.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting for the Archdiocese's:
o Eight Catholic high schools
o Two special-needs schools
o Approximately forty parish elementary schools
• Analyze school financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with principals, school business managers, parish bookkeepers, and
finance personnel to improve budgeting and financial reporting.

Parish Financial Analysis
• Perform financial analyses of parish operations and financial performance as requested by
Archdiocesan leadership.
• Evaluate parish financial information to identify operational trends, financial concerns, and
opportunities for improvement.
• Conduct analyses related to specific issues, including delinquent obligations, financial
sustainability, capital projects, liquidity, and other matters requiring financial review.
• Prepare written analyses and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
• While this position will routinely analyze parish financial information, it is not
responsible for the ongoing financial management of individual parishes.

Financial Reporting & Data Analytics
• Gather, consolidate, and analyze financial information from multiple systems, including
QuickBooks, Financial Edge, Microsoft Excel, and other data sources.
• Design and maintain financial reporting tools, dashboards, and analytical models.
• Improve the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of financial information available to
leadership.
• Ensure the integrity and consistency of financial reporting.

Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with the Archdiocesan Accounting Department to ensure the accuracy and consistency of
financial information.

• Build productive working relationships with department directors, school administrators,
parish personnel, and other stakeholders.
• Present financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial
audiences.
• Participate in special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related
field required.
• CPA, CMA, MBA, or other relevant professional certification is preferred.

Experience
• Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, budgeting,
forecasting, accounting, or corporate finance.
• Demonstrated experience preparing operating budgets, financial forecasts, and management
reports.
• Experience interpreting financial information and presenting recommendations to
organizational leadership.
• Experience working in nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, healthcare, public
accounting, or other complex organizations is preferred.

Technical Skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, pivot tables, lookups,
and advanced formulas.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting principles.
• Experience with accounting and financial reporting systems.
• Experience with QuickBooks and Financial Edge is strongly preferred.
• Ability to consolidate and analyze financial information from multiple systems and databases.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences.

• Demonstrates the professionalism, judgment, and executive presence necessary to work
effectively with senior leaders, pastors, principals, and other key stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
• Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to identify process improvements and implement practical solutions.

Preferred Background
• Understanding of the mission, structure, governance, and culture of the Roman Catholic
Church.
• Familiarity with parish, school, diocesan, or other Catholic nonprofit operations is
preferred.
