Seasonal Maintenance opportunities are available for individuals seeking a commitment of up to 6 months, or summer only employment, at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm and the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Duties may include, but are not limited to, general and grounds maintenance, light custodial, painting, basic carpentry, and other related tasks. The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for performing a variety of duties for one of the following crews: Park Maintenance, Sports Field Maintenance, Horticulture, Forestry or Park Construction. Work is completed independently requiring a high degree of initiative and motivation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operates a variety of mowing and outdoor maintenance equipment; installs and maintains landscaping; plants and maintains trees and other plants; maintains athletic fields and other outdoor areas.

  • Picks up trash and debris.

  • Completes light custodial work.

Qualifications

Experience: No experience is required. Must be at least 18 years of age.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required.

Environmental or Physical Demands: Work requires the ability to navigating uneven ground and exposure to a variety of outdoor elements such as heat, cold, rain, and dust. Lifting and operating powered equipment requires lifting, manual dexterity, and frequent physical exertion.
