Job description

Facility Services Event Staff JOB SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to perform event activities including but not limited to perform cleaning, set-up, and break down tasks at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs janitorial services; cleans and polishes floors; shampoos carpets; cleans windows; cleans and stocks restroom facilities; collects and disposes of trash; and cleans up spills. Shovels; repairs and clears leaves, tree limbs and other debris from sidewalks and rights of way. Assists with special projects and seasonal work; removes and replaces staging materials from sites as needed.

Moves air wall panels; positions bleachers; and builds stages. Sets-up and tears down for events. Picks up and transports materials, tools and supplies; cleans and washes equipment and tools; and notifies supervisor of needed equipment replacements and repairs.

Adheres to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; wears protective gear. Sets up barricades for crowd control; sets up basketball court; and sets up ballrooms and meeting rooms. Sets up and tear down exhibit halls, ballrooms and meeting spaces for events.

Builds stages and sets basketball floor. Cleans and maintains tile, carpet and concrete flooring. Cleans and disinfects bathrooms and removes all trash from facility.

Maintains and cleans entire facility before, during and after events. This may include telescoping bleachers, windows, escalators and parking lots. Uses a variety of hand and power tools and equipment to perform assigned duties, including forklift, floor scrubber, blowers, carpet extractor, buffer, scissor lift and hand tools.

Communicates with supervisor, City employees, the public, and other individuals. Receives various forms, lists, work orders, maintenance checklist, and invoices. Prepares and completes various forms, reports, maintenance checklist, work orders, and maintenance records.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Assists in preparing for and cleaning up after natural disasters as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned, required or requested. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; no experience required.

Licenses or Certifications: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Special Requirements: None. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of basic maintenance and cleaning tools, equipment, methods and products...

Knowledge of customer service principals. Knowledge of safety procedures relevant to assigned job duties. Skill in gathering information before taking action Skill in using tools and equipment required to perform job duties.

Skill in performing basic math functions and measuring accurately. Ability to listen. Ability to build rapport.

Ability to quickly learn new technology and use of new tools/equipment. Ability to pay attention to details. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is heavy work.

The employee is constantly required to move objects applying up to 20 pounds of force; frequently required to apply 30 pounds of force to move objects; and occasionally required to exert up to 100 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally requires: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing voices and distinguishing among sounds, kneeling, lifting, manual dexterity, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, expressing ideas by the spoken word and shouting to be heard above ambient noise, visual acuity in data/color/observations/ operating equipment/inspect defects or measurements, and walking. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, primarily at various work sites, where performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, heights, confined spaces, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, or bright/dim lights.
