Northrop Grumman - Mission Systems Sector - is seeking a Facilities Electrical Technician to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman team.
The Facilities Electrical Technician performs routine inspection and general maintenance on existing building electrical equipment along with working with outside contractors who construct, maintain, and repair utilities systems, buildings, and equipment via one or more of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, air-conditioning, heating, painting, and/or general maintenance. Along with conducting routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, equipment, and facility renovations.
Essential Duties:
  • Install conduit, raceways, cable trays, and wiring; terminate switches, receptacles, breakers, panels, transformers, motor starters, and VFDs.
  • Perform routine checks on motors, generators, UPS, HVAC controls, PLCs, and other electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose faults with multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and software; replace defective components and verify proper operation.
  • Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, voltage, and load tests; complete functional testing, as-built drawings, and test reports.
  • Follow OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company LOTO procedures; use PPE; identify and correct hazardous conditions; report incidents.
  • Perform routine, periodic, and special inspections to prevent equipment and facility breakdowns.
  • Execute maintenance, repair, and installation tasks in electrical, HVAC controls.
  • Operate plant-yard equipment such as skid steers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other powered aerial or material-handling devices when required.
  • Update the Preventive-Maintenance database and complete work orders on time using a CMMS (e.g., Maximo, Maintenance Connection).
  • Install, maintain, and diagnose malfunctions and repair electrical equipment and associated non-electronic controls. Plan and layout work as necessary to conform with the National Electrical Code and local electrical codes.
  • Repair and maintain facilities electrical system and equipment such as environmental control equipment, motor-generator sets, water treating and monitoring systems, air compressors, and high voltage substations.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel as needed
  • Coordinate with vendors/suppliers for repairs and installations.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and on-call requirements (e.g., capital-project startups).
  • Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal from walkways and roads.
  • Assist Facilities Management with ancillary duties (file upkeep, site cleanup, warehouse organization, etc.).
  • Typical schedule: Monday-Friday, 06:00-16:00 (1-hour break). 9/80 option available (four 9-hour days + every-other Friday off).

Basic Qualifications for the Electrical Maintenance Technician:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years' experience in Facilities Maintenance
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • A minimal level of Journeyman electrical experience required.
  • Experience with: NEC, local building codes, AC/DC power systems, motor controls, PLC basics.
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
  • Be able to follow written instruction and complete documentation associated with facility maintenance.
  • Experience in testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and/or equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and follow detailed work instructions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, Outlook and the ability to learn other specific programs and databases specific to the organization.
  • Experience in customer-service, written/oral communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications for the Electrical Maintenance Technician:
  • Advanced Certifications: NFPA 70E, OSHA 30-hour construction safety, or similar.
  • Specialized Experience: Experience with low-voltage signaling, control wiring, fire alarm systems, or data-center power infrastructure.
  • Experience with commercial HVAC, and SCIF construction.
  • OSHA certification or training.
  • Basic networking/cabling knowledge.
  • Is a self-starter and able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Problem solving ability and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with CAFM/Work-Order systems.

Physical Requirements for the Electrical Maintenance Technician:
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Ability to perform work from ladders, scaffolds and powered lift platforms
  • Climb ≥ 200 ft of vertical ladder or tower-climbing system while wearing approved fall-arrest PPE (when required).
  • Perform moderate-to-strenuous physical work in indoor and outdoor environments, under varied atmospheric conditions.
  • Wear required safety gear for specific tasks.
  • Tools & Instrument dexterity: Proficient with hand & power tools, conduit benders, wire strippers, multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers.
  • Ability to climb ladders.

Primary Level Salary Range: $52,094.00 - $125,390.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
