Job description
Summary: Audition to be a part of our team! The showboat is casting an on call drummer with commitment dates through December 31st. You could play for a dramatic, comedic, romantic, or musical production. We are looking for entertaining candidates who are skilled drummers!
Submission Information: Video Submissions are required for the Audition and should be sent to sdcauditions@silverdollarcity.com. Submissions should include two songs in the style(s) you do best. A verse and chorus of each song is sufficient. Submissions and application should both be submitted ASAP.
Musicians must apply AND audition in order to be considered for a position.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Rehearses parts to learn songs and cues as directed.
- Applies make-up and wears a costume to change or enhance appearance and portrayal of character or role.
- Plays music as the role requires.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Expressive abilities, poise, stage presence, and a feel for music are required.
- Strong improvisation skills.
- Musicians (drums) with the ability to perform various styles including, but not limited to, country, pop, rock & roll, musical theatre, etc.
- Able to communicate efficiently.
- Must be comfortable working on a moving vessel away from land.
- Expressive abilities, poise, stage presence, and a feel for music are required.
Safety Training:
- The vessel is Federally regulated by the United States Coast Guard. All employees will be trained in departmental safety procedures and regulations as mandated by the Coast Guard.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- The ability to lift and/or move 10 pounds frequently to 50 pounds maximum.
- The ability to stand and walk on uneven terrain, inclines, asphalt, and concrete continuously.
- The ability to perform choreographed actions related to performing frequently.
- The ability to remember locations and understand and carry out instructions frequently.
- The ability to work in extreme weather occasionally.

This role takes place in a dynamic, performance-driven setting where energy, enthusiasm, and adaptability are key. Musicians may work both indoors and outdoors, often in front of live audiences, requiring a high level of confidence and stage presence. The work environment includes frequent movement on various surfaces, exposure to varying weather conditions, and the need for quick adaptability to performance changes. Team collaboration is essential, as performers interact with other cast members, production staff, and guests to create engaging entertainment experiences.
