Position Summary:

Arch is seeking aVice President, Head of Model Research & Event Responseto lead the development, governance, and application of Arch's catastropheview of riskacross regions, perils, and lines of business. This role is responsible forcatastrophe model evaluation, change management, climate risk interpretation, and global event response, ensuring Arch's risk insights are scientifically robust, businessrelevant, and decisionready.

The role oversees ateam of approximately three experienced catastrophe analytics professionalsand partners closely with underwriting, portfolio management, exposure management, risk, and executive leadership. This is aglobal role, supporting Arch's London operations and ensuring compliance withLloyd's LCM5 and LCM9 requirements.

Arch actively participates in CERCat, a privatepublic university consortium focused on advancing catastrophe risk science, model transparency, and climate research.This role represents Arch in external research forums and helps translate academic and industry collaboration into practical underwriting and portfolio insights.

As Arch continues tolean into AI and advanced analytics, this role will play a critical part in shaping how emerging technologies enhance model understanding, event response, and risk decisioning.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Model Research & View of Risk

  • Lead theevaluation, validation, and governance of thirdparty catastrophe models, leveragingmultiple vendor and opensource frameworks including AIR, RMS, KCC, and Oasis, across key perils and regions.
  • Own Arch'smodel change management framework, including interpretation of vendor updates, financial module changes, and implications for underwriting and portfolio risk.
  • Develop and maintain Arch'senterprise view of riskby region, peril, and line of business (Property, Marine, Workers' Compensation, Specialty lines, etc.).
  • Integrateclimate change considerationsinto catastrophe risk interpretation, scenario analysis, and longterm portfolio insights.
  • Engage withexternal research partners, including CERCat participants, to stay current on emerging science, model methodologies, and climate research.
  • Communicate complex modeling concepts, uncertainty, and limitations clearly tonontechnical stakeholdersand senior leadership.

Event Response & Loss Estimation

  • Oversee Arch'sglobal catastrophe event response process, including readiness, execution, and postevent analysis.
  • Lead the mapping and modeling ofanticipated events(e.g., hurricanes) andrealized events(e.g., flood, earthquake, wildfire), delivering timely exposure and loss insights.
  • Ensure event response outputs areconsistent, auditable, and decisionfocused, supporting underwriting actions, moratoriums, and executive communications.
  • Continuously improve event response speed, accuracy, and scalability throughprocess optimization, automation, and advanced analytics.

Global Governance & Regulatory Support

  • Support Arch'sLondon and Lloyd's platform, ensuring catastrophe analytics meetLCM5 (exposure management)andLCM9 (catastrophe risk modeling)expectations.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Portfolio Management to ensure catastrophe analytics are aligned withregulatory, governance, and capital frameworks.
  • Represent Catastrophe Management in internal and external discussions related tomodel governance, research, and risk oversight.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and develop ahighperforming teamof catastrophe analytics professionals.
  • Set strategic priorities and ensure alignment with broader Catastrophe Analytics and enterprise risk objectives.
  • Partner with Technology and Data teams to advanceAIenabled analytics, automation, and nextgeneration catastrophe tooling.
  • Contribute to longterm strategy aroundmodel innovation, climate analytics, and advanced risk insights.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Data Science, Actuarial Science, or similar).
  • 10+ years of experiencein catastrophe modeling, risk analytics, or related insurance/reinsurance roles.
  • Deep expertise acrossmultiple catastrophe modeling platforms(e.g., AIR, RMS, KCC, Oasis).
  • Demonstrated experience leadingevent response and loss estimationfor major catastrophe events.
  • Strong leadership experience managing senior analysts or small expert teams.
  • Ability to translate technical risk insights intoclear, actionable business recommendations.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant quantitative or scientific discipline.
  • Experience supportingLloyd's or international insurance markets.
  • Familiarity withAI, machine learning, or advanced analyticsapplied to catastrophe risk.
  • Experience collaborating withacademic or research consortia.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$190,000 - $236,000/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
