Position Summary
The Clean Room Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining clean room standards within a machine shop environment to support the assembly, storage, and protection of sensitive equipment. This role ensures that all clean room protocols, environmental controls, and maintenance activities meet required cleanliness, safety, and quality standards. The technician works closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to ensure contamination-free operations.
Key Responsibilities
Clean Room & Environmental Control
- Maintain clean room standards in accordance with established ISO, company, and customer requirements
- Monitor and document clean room conditions including particulate levels, temperature, humidity, and airflow
- Perform routine cleaning, sanitization, and housekeeping of clean room areas, tools, and storage locations
- Enforce gowning, PPE, and clean room behavior protocols
Maintenance & Equipment Support
- Perform preventive maintenance on clean room systems including HVAC, HEPA filtration, and environmental monitoring equipment
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report issues that could compromise clean room integrity
- Coordinate repairs with facilities, vendors, or engineering as needed
- Maintain and organize clean room tools, fixtures, and materials
Machine Shop Interface
- Support clean transitions between machine shop operations and clean room environments
- Ensure sensitive equipment and components are properly cleaned, packaged, labeled, and stored
- Prevent cross-contamination between machining, assembly, and storage areas
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate logs, checklists, and maintenance records
- Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures
Qualifications
Required
- Experience working in a clean room or controlled environment (manufacturing, aerospace, medical device, semiconductor, or similar)
- Knowledge of clean room protocols, contamination control, and PPE usage
- Basic mechanical aptitude and maintenance experience
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and documentation requirements
- Comfortable working in PPE for extended periods
Preferred
- Familiarity with ISO clean room classifications
- Experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment
- HVAC or facilities maintenance experience
- Understanding of ESD, sensitive equipment handling, or precision assembly
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in clean room garments, including gowns, gloves, masks, and eye protection
