YOUR ROLE

Are you known for your leadership skills? Are you passionate about coordinating logistics activities? If so, we have an opportunity that would allow you to oversee transportation and customs processes, providing customer service for shipment, receipt and documentation of imported/exported products in accordance with federal and foreign regulations.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

 

Operates vehicles and equipment to move or transport materials to and from specified destinations in a safe and efficient manner inside the yard.   Moves vehicles, trailers and flatbeds to and from dock and yard area to assist with loading, unloading and yard utilization. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload freight by hand or by using manual equipment such as hand truck or pallet jack or forklift.
  • Verify and note the count and condition of cargo received, knowing when to refuse or accept with notation.
  • Record receipts to appropriate forms and/or log books. Verify that proper documentation is attached.
  • Sort cargo received by account or intended location and store in proper location.
  • Accurately label freight to destination.
  • Shuttle empty and full trailers within dock area and parking lots.
  • Transport freight from storage dock area or trailers to designated area.
  • Secure lifting attachments to freight to move to assigned location.
  • Stack or assemble freight into bundles and band bundles together on pallets.
  • Clean work area. Clean out trailers if needed prior to moving them.
  • May be required to perform post or pre-load inspections on trailers and document condition of equipment and trailers before re-use or reloading.
  • Verify and report damages as discovered.
  • Develop and provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers at all times.
  • Perform daily yard check.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Ability to operate various yard equipment. Understanding of safety rules that apply to dock and warehouse operations. Ability to drive and/or operate heavy machinery and/or equipment. Ability to operate a dolly, forklift, hand truck, lift gate and pallet jack on a daily basis. Ability to frequently lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • PC Literate. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out oral or written instructions.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documents.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one on one or in small group situations.
  • Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Consistently at work and on time.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

 

Minimum:

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years industry driving experience may be substituted for a high school diploma or GED. 
  • Minimum 6 months related experience.
  • Valid state issued Class C Driver's License issued by the driver's home state of residence.
  • Acceptable driving record as defined by DOT regulations, TSA regulations and Company policy.
  • Forklift Driver Certification. DOT Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Materials Certification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • This position is based in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled.
  • Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures depending on seasonal weather conditions.
  • The role requires the ability to work safely and effectively in hot and cold environments while performing essential job duties.
