ELIGIBILITY LIST Eligibility lists are valid for one (1) year from the date they are established unless it is exhausted sooner or extended for an additional period of time. Examples of Duties Depending upon assignment, duties may include but are not limited to the following: Serve as a hose operator in firefighting situations including pulling working lines, holding the nozzle to direct the stream of water on the fire; placing, raising, lowering, and climbing ladders and assisting in overhaul and salvage operations
Drive and operate fire equipment on a relief basis. Respond to rescue calls and administer first aid. Lay hose lines and operate engine pumping equipment.
Clean and test fire hoses. Operate radio-telephone equipment. Inspect and perform routine maintenance on rescue equipment fire apparatus, hydrants, and support equipment.
Clean station quarters and equipment and perform minor maintenance activities. Study Fire Department rules and regulations fire hazards and firefighting techniques and related subjects. Operate a variety of tools and equipment related to fire suppression and rescue activities.
Participate in fire drills and training exercises. Participate in continuous training in fire prevention inspection and suppression through both simulated and on-the-job exercises. Inspect commercial and other properties for fire hazards and compliance with fire prevention codes and ordinances.
Prepare reports with respect to work operations. Serve as acting Fire Engineer as assigned. Perform related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications Required at the time of application: Completion of a California State certified firefighter academy and/or Firefighter I certification from the State of California. EMT Certification. Current AHA CPR certificate.
Valid California Class C driver's license. Valid Cal-JAC CPAT/Biddle card. CA DL Firefighter endorsement (required prior to completion of 12-month probationary period).You may be placed on the eligibility list and hired without this qualification, but this endorsement is required before the end of probation
