Description:

Position: Part Time, non-exempt, mornings

Hours: 20 hrs. a week

Pay Rate: $20/hour 

Schedule: Mornings, Primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, or special events as parish needs require.

Reports to: Facilities Director & Pastor


Position Summary

The Facilities Assistant supports the Director of Facilities with cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of all parish buildings and grounds. As well as assisting with renovation and completion of projects.


Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance

· Perform routine and preventative maintenance of parish buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities.

· Perform lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, and other seasonal grounds maintenance.

· General maintenance of physical structures that do not require a licensed professional

· Inspect facilities regularly and identify maintenance, safety, and repair needs.

· Cleaning of the interior of the Church and other facilities.

· Trash Removal.

· Routine maintenance of the Church’s properties.

· Cleaning graffiti or other extraordinary forms of vandalism.

· Set-up for events.

· Assisting with emergency facility situations, i.e.: Broken pipes, power outages, gas leaks, fires

· Works with Director of Maintenance to ensure all interior and exterior lighting is in proper working order

· Assists the Catholic Center Manager in monitoring and reporting unauthorized parking on church property to the Director of Maintenance

· Works with Director of facilities to ensure orderliness and safety of storage areas 

· Assists with deep cleaning of facilities as needed 

· Attends all required training courses 

· Removal of debris from Student Center Moat or other extraordinary forms of trash

Projects

· Assist with renovation of the Church’s rental properties

· Assist with refurbishing the Pastoral Center

· Assisting and fixing the doors and windows on the Church

· Completing outstanding projects in the Student Center and other properties

· Any other projects or maintenance required by the Director of Maintenance or Pastor

Requirements:

 · Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043).

· Dependable, responsible, and responsive to facility needs.

· Qualified applicants will have at least a high school diploma, maintenance experience and professional skills preferred.

· Working knowledge in using cleaning solutions, cleaning equipment, power tools and yard maintenance equipment.

· Ability to safely operate common hand, power tools and maintenance equipment.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests and work independently.

· Ability to communicate professionally with clergy, staff, volunteers, parishioners, contractors, and visitors.

· Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, climb, bend, kneel, and perform other physical activities associated with building and grounds maintenance.
