Makeup Artist????️Department of Shadows & Live Entertainment

Reports to: Supervisor - Live Entertainment

When the sun sets and the fog rolls in, monsters awaken. As a Makeup Artist, you are one of the unseen masterminds behind the terror. Armed with brushes, blood, prosthetics, and creativity, you will transform Screamsters into horrifying creatures that stalk the night and guests' nightmares.

If you have a passion for creativity, character creation, and all things creepy, even without previous makeup or airbrush experience, this is your chance to apply and attend an audition.


Your Job ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll Do
  • Prepare, clean, and organize the makeup studio to maintain high levels of cleanliness.
  • Apply makeup via airbrush and paintbrush as well as prosthetics, wounds, scars, artificial blood, and more.
  • Assist with application of masks, touch-ups throughout the evening, and end-of-night removals.
  • Alter performers' appearances through makeup artistry to create terrifying characters.
  • Assist with masks, creature enhancements, touch-ups, and end-of-night removals.
  • Assist with hair spray and other necessary chemicals to
  • Ensure every monster leaves your chair ready to unleash fear.
  • Adapt designs and makeup applications as directed to maintain the highest level of production.
  • Work with many different chemicals from brush cleaners, adhesive removers, isopropyl alcohol, and latex.
  • Help preserve the immersive atmosphere that brings Halloween Haunt to life.
  • Collaborate with Leads and Supervisors to achieve the desired look for each haunted character, according to set creative briefs.
  • Adapt designs and makeup applications as directed to maintain the highest level of production.
  • Interact professionally with Screamsters and Performers, fellow Artists, and guests when needed.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe makeup crypt.
  • Report unusual or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Follow all safety procedures while handling makeup, adhesives, paints, and special effects materials.
  • Interact professionally with performers, crew members, and guests when needed.
  • Help preserve the immersive atmosphere that brings the Haunt to life.

What We're Looking For

The ideal creature creator possesses:

  • Minimum age of 16 years old.
  • Experience in makeup, cosmetology, hair styling, and airbrushing is preferred but not required. A mind for creative and abstract thought is mandatory.
  • A creative imagination with a love for horror and character design.
  • The ability to take artistic direction and recreate specific looks.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • A willingness to work nights, Fridays and weekends, holidays, and late-night Haunt events.

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to work in theatrical environments with fog and lighting effects, artificial blood, prosthetics, paints, glues, etc.
  • Ability to work in crowded, fast paced, and loud environments.
  • Ability to work in a range of outdoor environments from cold to unexpectedly warm.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work with your hands while transforming Screamsters.
  • Ability to lift and move makeup kits, supplies, and equipment as well as bend, reach, crouch, and maneuver through backstage spaces.
