Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving a website’s visibility in search engine results pages (SERPs), such as Google or Bing. It involves optimizing website content, structure, and technical elements to increase organic (unpaid) traffic. SEO strategies include keyword research, on-page optimization, link building, and improving user experience. The goal is to make a website more attractive to search engines and users, ultimately driving more relevant visitors. Effective SEO helps businesses reach potential customers who are actively searching for related products or services.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a search engine optimization (SEO) specialist?

To thrive as a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Specialist, you need a solid grasp of keyword research, on-page and off-page optimization, analytics, and content strategy, often supported by a marketing degree or relevant certification. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and experience with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress are typically expected. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you interpret data and coordinate with writers and web developers.
