Job description

Our mission at 97th Floor is to elevate people and brands we believe in. That's what we're focused on when we help our clients meet their marketing goals and lead people to brands and products they need.

You'll thrive here if you're motivated to do work you're proud of, you enjoy close collaboration, and you're naturally curious about how search engines and AI search actually work.

We've partnered with companies like AT&T, Oatly, eos, and Zoom. And now we're looking for someone who wants to join our team with organic search expertise, fresh eyes, and genuine excitement to achieve results.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Search Marketer, you'll bring deep search expertise that you can apply to your own clients and share with others. You'll own SEO and AI search/GEO strategy for your clients while helping train and develop other marketers across the department.

You'll also work closely with the Head of Search to push our search offering forward through testing new strategies, developing and validating new approaches, turning successful tests into case studies, and helping bring those learnings to the rest of the department. You'll help turn what works into repeatable strategies we can apply across clients and package into sales and marketing materials that demonstrate our expertise.

You'll work alongside a content marketer, advertiser, designer, and account director on a team serving approximately 7-10 clients. Your work will focus on:

Content Strategy

  • Ensure query research (keyword and AI prompt research), content mapping, and content consolidation are happening on the cadence each client's SOW calls for, and take ownership of the strategic direction that comes out of them.
  • Collaborate with content, advertising, and design teams to align SEO initiatives with broader marketing goals.
  • Stay ahead of algorithm changes, platform updates, and emerging search trends - including AI-driven search - and share what you learn with the broader team.

Technical Fixes

  • Own the account's technical health strategy, making sure Full Technical Audits and ongoing monitoring are happening on schedule and issues are resolved before they affect performance.

Internal Linking

  • Ensure internal link audits and strategy are being executed on schedule across the account, and take ownership of the strategic direction behind them.
  • Optimize existing internal links to create correct connection between hub and spoke pages.
  • Audit a site's existing URL structure, provide recommendations for optimizing user and bot navigation of a site.

Backlink Acquisition

  • Take ownership of backlink fulfillment relationships with BASE or outside contractors, making sure strategic allocation, anchor text guidance, and outreach recommendations are being followed and producing quality links (DR30+, doFollow, indexable, relevant).
  • Quality-assurance audits and tracking impact of new referring links on keyword rankings, traffic and AI Search presence.link impact via STAT annotation.

Results Tracking and Monitoring

  • Own performance against defined client goals and target outcomes, proactively identifying and executing the strategies needed to drive measurable results.
  • Closely monitor results across STAT, Ahrefs, GSC, and GA4, and be the one to raise the alarm early when performance is off track and leading the strategy pivot needed to improve it.
  • Own client communication and reporting for your accounts' SEO initiatives, confidently explaining strategy, results, and recommendations in a way that connects search metrics to real business outcomes.
  • Contribute to process improvement and knowledge sharing, helping evolve internal playbooks, templates, and reporting standards for the search marketing team.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field (preferred, not required)
  • 3+ years of experience in SEO/organic search, including experience owning strategy across multiple client accounts
  • A demonstrated track record of driving measurable organic search results
  • Advanced proficiency with GA4, Google Search Console, Looker Studio, Screaming Frog and Ahrefs (or comparable tools)
  • Skilled in interpreting performance data and translating it into a clear, client-ready narrative - not just what happened, but why
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to prioritize where a client's SEO investment will have the biggest impact
  • Experience directing or coordinating outside contractor/vendor relationships (e.g., link-building partners) is a plus
  • Advanced client communication and influence skills, with the ability to advise senior marketing leaders and C-suite executives, translate search performance into business impact, and build buy-in for strategic recommendations.
