What does a Seakeeper do?

A Seakeeper is responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of a vessel, often through the operation and maintenance of gyroscopic stabilization systems. They monitor equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance to minimize boat roll and improve comfort. Seakeepers may work on yachts, commercial vessels, or research ships, depending on their expertise. Their role is crucial for enhancing safety and efficiency at sea.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Seakeeper position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Seakeeper, you need a strong background in marine engineering, vessel operations, and maintenance of stabilization systems, typically complemented by technical education or relevant marine certifications. Familiarity with Seakeeper gyro stabilizer systems, diagnostic tools, safety compliance procedures, and hands-on mechanical troubleshooting is essential. Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication with vessel owners and crew help you stand out in this position. These skills ensure smooth vessel operations, minimize downtime, and maintain safety and comfort on board.

What are the typical challenges a Seakeeper faces while maintaining vessel stabilization systems?

As a Seakeeper, you may encounter challenges such as diagnosing complex technical issues, performing preventive maintenance in tight or dynamic marine environments, and ensuring the proper integration of stabilization systems with various vessel types. Working conditions can be demanding due to time-sensitive repairs, adverse weather, or remote locations, requiring flexibility and efficient troubleshooting skills. Collaborative communication with vessel crews and owners is an important part of the job, especially when explaining technical issues and recommending solutions. Mastering these challenges not only keeps vessels running smoothly but also enhances your credibility and growth within the maritime industry.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT HERE

It's true that we make extraordinary products, but our favorite part about Seakeeper is our people! We believe in participative leadership. That means you have the freedom to make a difference and contribute to the larger goal, regardless of your position. Great ideas can strike at any moment, and when you have one, you're empowered to speak up!

We are constantly pushing (or crushing) boundaries. Stagnant or bored are about as opposite from Seakeeper as you can get! We move quick and if there is something that can be improved upon, we jump on it.

WHO WE ARE

71% of our Earth is covered by water and we want everyone to make the most of it. That's why we are committed to creating products that transform the boating experience with an organization that employees want to work for, customers want to buy from, and vendors want to partner with. Seakeeper Ride, a Vessel Attitude Control System, eliminates underway pitch and roll, making time on the water safer and more comfortable for everyone on board.

Seakeeper was founded in 2008, growing from a start-up operation to the worldwide leader in stabilization thanks to its popular line of gyrostabilizers. Seakeeper Ride launched in 2022 and is the first product deviation from that line, bringing the magic of Seakeeper to boats while underway. There's a long runway of growth ahead as more and more OEMs adopt Seakeeper Ride as standard equipment and we work to make aftermarket refits a reality.

Ready for a new challenge in a fast-paced environment? Want to help us disrupt an industry? Come on and apply, we are ready for you!
