Our Atlanta branch is looking for a new Sea Logistics Customer Care Specialist, Import to join our Sea Logistics team.
As a member of the Freight Forwarding team Kuehne+Nagel, you will play a key role in transporting goods, optimising processes, and fulfilling our customers' promises. And by transporting medicines, toys and important machine parts, you are not only delivering goods, you are making small and big moments possible for people all around the world. As a Sea Logistics Customer Care Specialist, Import, you will serve as a key connection between our customers, sales team, international origin offices, and operational support teams. You will manage customer communication, coordinate with colleagues responsible for behind-the-scenes shipment activity, and help resolve urgent or unexpected issues throughout the import process.
This is a customer-facing position for someone who enjoys building relationships, researching problems, and guiding customers through complex situations with honesty and professionalism.
How you create impact
In this customer-facing role, you will act as the connection between customers, sales, operational teams, and international colleagues. You will help manage customer expectations, coordinate solutions, and ensure urgent or unexpected shipment issues are handled with clear communication and strong follow-through.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Sea Logistics import customers
  • Coordinate with sales, back-office teams, international origin offices, and other internal partners
  • Monitor operational tasks and follow up to ensure customer requirements are completed
  • Support customers with special requirements, urgent matters, and shipment disruptions
  • Research issues, identify solutions, and communicate updates clearly and honestly
  • Manage a high volume of email communication and use phone conversations when needed to resolve issues
  • Build strong customer relationships and provide consistent, professional service
  • Support teammates and provide coverage when needed

What we would like you to bring
We are looking for someone who is customer-focused, comfortable solving problems, and able to communicate professionally in both routine and difficult situations. Previous Sea Logistics or freight forwarding experience is preferred, but strong customer service experience and the ability to learn the business are most important.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous customer-facing or customer service experience
  • Sea freight, logistics, freight forwarding, or import experience preferred but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build rapport and communicate difficult information professionally
  • Strong problem-solving and research skills
  • Ability to manage urgent situations, shifting priorities, and multiple customer needs
  • Team-oriented approach and willingness to work closely with local and international colleagues
  • Comfort working in an email-heavy environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and general computer applications
  • Ability to learn Kuehne+Nagel's internal systems and processes
