ISMIRA Agency Actively Recruiting For Position 1st Receptionist For Scylla AG

Founded in Switzerland in 1973, Scylla has been setting the standard in premium river cruising for more than 50 years. Their motto is "Quality, our passion". Today, the company operates more than 40 modern river ships, sailing along the Rhine, Danube, Seine, Rhône, Saône, and many other beautiful rivers across Europe.

As the first point of contact for our guests and the manager of our onboard boutique, this position is central to shaping the Scylla experience. You ensure that every guest interaction and every shopping moment reflects our commitment to quality, innovation, and hospitality. Balancing operational excellence with genuine care for guests and colleagues, you make sure that cruises run smoothly, boutique operations thrive, and the onboard team feels empowered. This is a leadership role at the intersection of service, retail management, and team culture—where front office and boutique responsibilities are equally valued.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the entire reception area as well as the onboard shop according to Scylla standards.
  • Responsible for the correct handling of work arising daily/per cruise/monthly according to Scylla standards.
  • Responsible for the processing the ratings and for the feedback on satisfaction about Reception performance.
  • Serving guests and visitors by greeting, welcoming and directing them appropriately.
  • Responsible for the compliance with safety guidelines in the reception area.
  • Responsible for customs formalities and in port manning according to the safety regulation.
  • Responsible for dealing carefully with equipment and IT-systems.
  • Check-in and Check-out procedure according Scylla standards.
  • Responsible for the correct spelling of menus, PPT and displays.
  • Responsible for the correct booking of goods, items in the system such as minibar, massage, hairdresser, beverages, laundry, boutique, etc.
  • Assist the administrative jobs from the Hotel manager as per request.
  • Responsible for excursions if Scylla is in charge (order of guides, busses, etc.).
  • Preparation of inventories and orders of the reception department and boutique.
  • Acceptance and control of goods delivered for the ship according the S.O.S. guidelines.
  • Keeps a safe and tidy, clean reception area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations including the separation of the garbage.
Requirements
  • Experienced within the hotel industry and/or previous (river) cruise ship experience.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the friendly and positive attitude.
  • Outstanding verbal communication, listening and telephone skills.
  • Stress resistant, calm under pressure, resilient, team player and with positive approach.
  • Open minded and flexible with high social, interpersonal and cultural competencies.
  • Problem-solving skills and dependability.
  • Attention to detail with strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages as German are an advantage.
  • Technology skills with excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT).
  • Being representative of Scylla´s values.
  • Age: min. 18 years old
  • Non-EU nationals will need D type German visa before joining
