What work will you perform?
The Director of Corporate Communications is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance the company's relationships with our employees, our communities and media outlets. This role ensures a positive company image by managing the flow of information to these key stakeholders through various channels, including employee communications, media relations and community engagement initiatives. The individual in this position works with senior leadership and cross-functionally aligns communications and branding with overall business objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement communication plans that align with company goals, including messaging development, key audience identification, and communication channel selection.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of communications professionals.
  • Support executive leadership, including the Chief Executive Officer, with respect to communication strategies, speech drafting, presentations, and other executive materials.
  • Effectively present information to employees and community members.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and other companies, managing press inquiries, issuing press releases, and coordinating media interviews.
  • Management of corporate images, photography, and video for brand management, presentations, and other corporate purposes.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address potential negative situations and protect the company's reputation.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Marketing team to support LSTR brand framework development, the drafting of marketing materials and consistency in execution across all audiences.
  • Provide copy and communications support for various efforts, including media advertising, sponsorships, and digital campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Events team in support of corporate events, including script writing, executive presentations, design of event materials, event photography, convention booth design, and on-site event support.
  • Manage the departmental budget and allocate resources effectively.
  • Select and oversee vendors and vendor management.

Required Minimum Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work-related experience.
  • Five years of corporate communications experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to demonstrate writing experience in a variety of formats.
  • Excellent written communication skills in varied formats including long-form text, AP-style writing, speech writing, script writing, business memoranda, PowerPoint presentations, and press releases.
  • Ability to manage public relations and media relationships
  • Strategic thinking and ability to develop comprehensive communication plans.
  • Ability to quickly gain and maintain knowledge of relevant industry trends.
  • Crisis communication knowledge
  • Ability to travel to two multi day conventions each year
