Job Title:  Associate Producer - WFTV Orlando

Position Overview

We are seeking an Associate Producer to join the award-winning team at WFTV Channel 9 Eyewitness News in Orlando. This role supports the execution of daily newscasts by assisting in content development, script writing, and coordination of newsroom resources.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with solid news judgment who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and is committed to producing accurate, engaging, and impactful journalism.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist Producers with the development and execution of live and recorded newscasts
  • Write, edit, and format scripts for broadcast and digital platforms in a clear and concise manner
  • Coordinate live shots, field crews, and remote elements to ensure seamless execution
  • Monitor scanners, wires, social media, and internal systems for breaking news opportunities
  • Maintain awareness of local, national, and international news stories
  • Build graphics, lower thirds, and other visual elements using newsroom systems
  • Ensure content adheres to journalistic standards, legal requirements, and CMG editorial guidelines
  • Support Producers and control room staff during live broadcasts, including timing and troubleshooting
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong broadcast writing and editorial skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with newsroom systems (e.g., ENPS, iNews) and digital platforms
  • Working knowledge of AP style and broadcast standards
