The Lafayette School Corporation is seeking a Network Engineer to maintain and support the network infrastructure and all peripheral equipment associated with the district's backbone. This position requires extensive knowledge of switching, routing, firewalls, web filtering and video surveillance systems. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor degree in Technology or related field, three or more years of enterprise network support experience. PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Network Engineer will be responsible to maintain and support the network infrastructure and all peripheral equipment associated with the district's networks.
REPORTS TO: The Network Engineer reports directly to the Technology Infrastructure Manager and ultimately to the Chief Technology Officer of the Lafayette School Corporation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
  • Associate's Degree in Technology or related field.
  • Three years of working experience with local and wide area network.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Technology or related field.
  • Five years' experience with medium to large wired and wireless network.
  • CCNA or greater professional certification.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
All functions are performed in accordance with established technology policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the District. Current essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Must be proficient with network protocols especially TCP/IP design knowledge.
  • Maintain high level services for both data and voice network.
  • Perform all required upgrades to network infrastructure equipment.
  • Review and respond to daily sys logs.
  • Assist field technicians to troubleshoot network related issues.
  • Develop scripts for the automation of routine maintenance of systems.
  • Conduct continuing security analysis of systems and procedures.
  • Work well with other people in the organization.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Technology Infrastructure Manager or CTO.
