The Script Coordinator primarily manages script versions and distribution, working behind the scenes in an office setting. In contrast, the Script Supervisor works on set to ensure continuity and consistency during filming. Both roles require production experience but focus on different aspects of script management and execution.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Script Coordinator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Script Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of script formatting and production processes, often supported by experience in television or film production. Proficiency in scriptwriting software such as Final Draft, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with production tracking systems is typically required. Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities help you efficiently manage script revisions and liaise between writers, producers, and other departments. These skills are crucial to ensure script accuracy, smooth workflow, and effective communication throughout the production process.

What are Script Coordinators?

Script Coordinators are professionals in the television and film industry responsible for managing the flow of scripts between writers, producers, and production departments. They ensure that script versions are up-to-date, properly formatted, and distributed to the necessary team members. Script Coordinators also check for continuity, track script changes, and may handle legal clearances or proofreading. Their organizational skills are essential to keep production running smoothly and to prevent costly errors. This role acts as a bridge between the creative and logistical sides of script production.

What are the main challenges a Script Coordinator faces when managing multiple script versions in a fast-paced production?

Script Coordinators often juggle multiple script drafts and revisions, especially in television or film productions with tight deadlines. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that all departments—such as production, wardrobe, and post-production—are working from the most current script version. This requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proactive communication to prevent costly errors or confusion on set. Utilizing script management software and maintaining clear records are vital strategies for overcoming these challenges.

Job description

Adventure is our Culture. Join a team that celebrates a lifestyle as bold as the terrain we love. At Backcountry, we are rooted in adventure, recognition, and wellbeing on and off the mountain. We spotlight employee stories, celebrate milestones, and offer exclusive outdoor perks. Whether you are at HQ, in a retail store, or remote, you will be part of a team that thrives on energy, exploration, and connection.
Reports to: Director of Brand Marketing
Location: Cottonwood Heights, UT - Hybrid 3x/week in office
About the Role
Backcountry needs a content engine - someone who can personally create authentic, platform-native social content across road bike, MTB, ski, climb, and general outdoor at volume, while simultaneously building and managing a growing network of creators and ambassadors. As Content & Community Partnerships Coordinator, you will serve as both a prolific hands-on content creator and the connective tissue between Backcountry's brand and the outdoor creator community.
Within your first six months, success means a content calendar that never goes empty, 20+ pieces of brand-aligned content published per week, and a creator network that is well-supported, on-brief, and delivering consistently. You will leverage AI tools and systematic workflows to maintain quality at high volume across multiple channels and verticals.
This is a lean team. You will own a lot, move fast, and make decisions with full end-to-end responsibility.
What You'll Do
  • Create original, platform-native content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and emerging channels - shooting, editing, and posting short-form video, graphics, and photo content independently
  • Produce content across all core verticals (ski/snow, road bike, MTB, climb, general outdoor) with the credibility and context to make each feel authentic
  • Write sharp, brand-aligned captions, scripts, and copy that match Backcountry's voice across formats and audiences
  • Leverage AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Runway, ElevenLabs, Descript, etc.) to accelerate ideation, scripting, repurposing, and scheduling at scale
  • Source, recruit, onboard, and manage emerging creators, athletes, and ambassadors across bike, climb, snow, run, and lifestyle verticals
  • Turn creator partnerships into a consistent content pipeline aligned with brand, product, and seasonal priorities - briefing creators, tracking deliverables, and maintaining brand standards
  • Build and maintain an organized content calendar using modern tools and AI-assisted workflows to keep volume high and quality consistent during peak campaign periods
  • Foster belonging within the Backcountry creator and ambassador community through genuine relationship-building and support for in-person community moments (rides, laps, events, activations)
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with PR, Brand, Partnerships, and Merchandising teams to integrate creators into campaigns, partnerships, and events
  • Track content output, creator performance, and social metrics against goals; compile performance reports to inform sourcing and content decisions

Required Qualifications
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in social media, content creation, influencer marketing, or brand partnerships
  • A personal content portfolio - links to accounts, channels, or work you have created yourself
  • Active participant in at least one core vertical: road bike, MTB, ski, climb, or outdoor - this is non-negotiable
  • Ability to independently create content across formats: short-form video, photo, graphics, captions, and scripts using tools like CapCut, Canva, Adobe Express, or equivalent
  • Fluency with AI tools and a demonstrated ability to use them as a production multiplier, not a shortcut
  • Experience managing creator or ambassador relationships and content deliverables
  • Strong understanding of platform-native behavior on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube with the ability to adapt quickly as platforms shift
  • Ability to channel a brand voice authentically - writing in tone without sounding corporate or scripted
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle creator relationships, content production, and reporting simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in outdoor, sports, or culturally-driven brands
  • Experience thinking systemically about content workflows: batching, templates, repurposing, scheduling, and workflow design
  • Experience executing tiered partnership structures with creators and ambassadors

Why Join
The people who do best here are builders. They take ownership, move fast, and want to see the direct impact of their work.
  • Cross-Functional Impact: Your content and creator partnerships will touch Brand, PR, Merchandising, and Social teams - your work directly shapes how Backcountry shows up in outdoor culture.
  • AI-First Skill Building: Get hands-on with modern AI and creator tools. You will build workflows and skills that set you apart in the industry.
  • Real Ownership: Own the content pipeline and creator network end-to-end. High performers are quickly entrusted with greater responsibility and new challenges across our portfolio of brands.
  • Competitive Benefits: Paid time off policies, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision and a variety of supplemental policies, and employee discounts across our portfolio of brands.

Interview Process
  1. Recruiter Screen - A 30-minute conversation with our recruiting team to align on the role, your background, and what you are looking for.
  2. Content Challenge - A short take-home exercise to show us how you think, create, and execute.
  3. Hiring Manager Interview - Conversation with the Director of Brand Marketing focused on your experience, portfolio, and operational thinking.
  4. In-Person Interview - We'd like to meet you at our Salt Lake City office. Details and logistics will be arranged with your recruiter.
  5. Reference Checks - Conducted in parallel with the final stages where possible.
  6. Offer - We move quickly for the right candidate.

Interview process is subject to change. Any updates will be communicated promptly and clearly.
