Job description

Job Title: Magnesium Injection Molding Technician

Location: Loveland

Department: Production

Reports to: Process Engineer

Effective Date: March, 2026

Job Summary:

Responsible for basic operation of Thixomolding Press machines to include equipment monitoring, support, basic maintenance. Additionally, the Level III Molder will maintain consistent machining cycle times and ensure that the quality of the parts conform to customer specifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all procedures to start, run, and stop the Thixomolding Presses to include the completion of all required documentation and adherence to procedures.
  • Ensure that all processed parts meet quality standards and promptly notify proper Thixomolding personnel of any parts that do not achieve the set standards.
  • Perform preventative/routine inspection, cleaning, and alignment of nozzles and mold seats prior to molding parts.
  • Understand and demonstrate an understanding of the panel switches, controller buttons (i.e. mold open/close switch), and LP manual switches to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform consistent and proper Manual Die Spray Techniques.
  • Maintain a consistent and optimal machine cycle while running Thixomolding Presses manually.
  • Monitor material feed throat to ensure accuracy throughout a run.
  • Perform the monitoring of feedback screens (i.e. recovery time, cushion, injection speed, and pressure, etc.) of the SYSCOM controller and make applicable adjustments to ensure the consistent operation of the Thixomolding Presses.
  • Perform Die Spray Tank operation.
  • Perform proper use of oil heaters.
  • Perform the Set-up and Tear-down of Thixomolding Press molds.
  • Perform operation of ice blaster to include cleaning of molding tools.
  • Perform start and stop functions of Thixomolding robots.

Required Skills/ Abilities:

  • Relative experience in the injection molding industry (i.e. Plastic Injection Molding, Die Casting, etc.).
  • Ability to start / stop mold machines and robots.
  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Advanced process knowledge to make process changes when needed.
  • Must possess advanced understanding of part processing.
  • Advanced robot knowledge / understanding.
  • Advanced diagnostics and repair of our equipment.
  • Ability to assemble screw tip / NRV assemblies.
  • Ability to replace heater bands on machines.
  • Ability to help pull a screw.
  • Ability to hone barrels after screw pulls.
  • Ability to change nozzles following proper procedure.
  • Ability to pull and set tools.
  • Knowledge of advanced machining technology.
  • Driven by process improvement and continuous improvement.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Successful completion of "Fundamentals of Injection Molding" Paulson Training.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast pace environment.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, hoist, and pallet jack.
  • English language proficiency to include verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in machining (or equivalent experience).


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work standing for extended periods of time and maintain dexterity when handling parts and components.
  • Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical demand involving lifting and moving of equipment.
