Responsibilities
Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Machine Tech V, Multi Spindle Screw Machine Davenport- 2nd shift located in Fullerton, CA. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we're the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.
Summary:
Sets up and operates multiple spindle automatic screw machines. Incumbent will have control to make minor adjustments to the process or machine after tasks are assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operates various standard and specialized machines to precision tolerance and maintains set-ups completed by others.
  • Performs adjustments and tool changes.
  • Operates one or more machines according to crew size called out on work order.
  • Performs typical operations as: Loading parts/material into bins, hoppers and feeders; removing finished parts; and operating switches, pedals, and levers, uses standard gauges to check part.
  • Observes operations for malfunction or improper processing; corrects or reports them as needed.
  • Performs other related tasks in departments to which assigned such as: Assembling, drilling, deburring, sorting, counting, etching, stamping, recording of parts processed and housekeeping
  • Required to check multiple operations on a part, such as: O.D., I.D., overall height, thread gauging, perpendicularity gauge, etc.
  • Reads micrometers, indicators, plug gauges, and thread gauges. Reads work order routers and related blueprints, sets-up and maintains S.P.C. charts.
  • Works from orders, screw machine part prints and screw machine layouts.
  • Assist factory supervision and leaders in the training of machine operators.
  • Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.
  • Keeps work area clean, safe and in an orderly fashion on a daily basis.
  • Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; or five or more years related experience and/or training as a Screw Machine Set Up Operator; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete routine documentation. Ability to speak clearly and effectively with managers, supervisors and coworkers.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Syteline Manufacturing software.
