Reports to: Aggregate Operations Manager
Salary: $24.00 -$28.00
Position Overview
The Plant Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of aggregate processing equipment at a gravel pit. This role includes monitoring, maintaining, and adjusting machinery to ensure consistent production of quality materials while following all safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate and monitor crushing, screening, washing, and conveying equipment.
• Perform daily inspections of plant equipment and report any mechanical issues.
• Adjust plant settings to maintain proper material specifications and production levels.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as lubrication, belt adjustments, and minor repairs.
• Keep accurate production records, including tonnage, downtime, and material quality.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including removing debris and buildup around equipment.
• Assist with loader or haul truck operations as needed.
• Follow all company safety policies, MSHA regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, mechanics, and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
• Respond quickly to plant malfunctions or breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Qualifications
• Experience operating aggregate processing equipment preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work on elevated platforms.
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime during peak production.
• Familiarity with MSHA safety standards is an asset.
• Valid driver's license required.
