Utility Worker
C&D Scrap Metals – Houston, TX
Pay: $16.00 – $19.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time
Expected Hours: 38 – 45 hours per week 
Mon-Friday, Saturdays as needed
6 am-2:30 pm
 
 
About the Role 
 
C&D Scrap Metals is seeking a hardworking and reliable Utility Worker to join our Operation Team. This full-time position plays a key role in supporting both the scrap yard and warehouse operations, making it a cross-functional role with diverse responsibilities. The Utility Worker helps with receiving and processing metals, operating equipment, and assisting across departments to ensure smooth and safe daily operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. 
 
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
 
  • Follow directions from the General Manager to support yard and warehouse operations.
  • Assist in receiving, unloading, and processing customer materials.
  • Sort, clean, and prepare metals for sale and distribution.
  • Operate a forklift safely after certification is obtained.
  • Support baling operations and general equipment use.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization across yard and warehouse work areas.
  • Deliver excellent customer service by providing assistance and representing the company in a professional manner.

 
 Work Schedule & Travel Requirements
 
  • Full-time 
  • Some travel to additional job sites may be required depending on operational needs.

 
 Position Requirements
 
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Strong physical stamina, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be safety-minded and capable of following procedures.
  • Forklift experience is preferred but not required—training and certification can be provided.
