Job description
Fundamental knowledge of how to handle tools of truck mechanic's trade. Some training in the mechanical trade through high school programs, technical schools, or working experience. Must be able to assist journeymen mechanics and mechanics in performing the various repairs to truck components and equipment.
II. ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Learning to use all tools of the trade along with maintaining some.
2. Learning to read and understand blueprints and technical publications, including service manuals and service bulletins.
3. Learning the various truck components and parts and their functions.
4. Learning the proper procedures to write descriptions of work preferred.
5. Learning to use the computer as needed to punch on and off computerized repair order system.
6. Learning times required to perform each repair and striving to acquire the knowledge and ability to meet these time standards.
7. Learning to practice safety in all job functions.
8. Learning to work productively with the Journeymen Mechanics and Mechanics.
