Job description

We are seeking an Senior Aerothermodynamics Engineer that will own the Aerodynamic and Aerothermal modeling for a supersonic ramjet system, including inlet, transition mechanism, and nozzle optimization for our new Broomfield, Colorado office,

Responsibilities:

  • Perform CFD simulations of inlets, shock trains, isolators, and combustor flow fields.
  • Model combustion chemistry and flame holding
  • Conduct conjugate heat transfer analysis for hot structures
  • Generate aerodynamic loads, drag polars, and ramjet performance maps
  • Provide design guidance for duct geometry and structural integration
  • Support wind tunnel testing and data correlation

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • 5+ years experience with supersonic or ramjet CFD
  • Expertise in ANSYS Fluent, Start-CCM+ or OpenFOAM
  • Strong understanding of turbulence, high-temp chemistry, and multiphase flow
  • Experience with grid generation, meshing strategies, and automation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D in Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Experience with reacting flow and particle combustion
  • Familiarity with scramjet/ramjet testing and data reduction
  • Knowledge of high-temperature materials interaction and ablation models
