Job description

The future of defense will be decided by those who field intelligent machines at scale. At Scout, we're developing Fury - the first robotic foundation model for defense - to give U.S. forces overwhelming, adaptable, and autonomous power across every domain. Fury enables human operators to command fleets of robots through natural language, and empowers those machines to sense, decide, and act together as one. It's not just a leap in autonomy, it's a force multiplier built for real-world conflict. This mission will ask everything of us: urgency, precision, and relentless work.
The RoleWe're hiring a Robot Technician to support the development, testing, and deployment of our Fury vision-language-action models onto autonomous vehicles across land, air, sea, and space. You will keep our robotic platforms operational, field-ready, and running Fury. This is a hands-on, high-tempo role with direct impact on the most advanced robotic systems in defense. You'll play a critical part in closing the loop between hardware, AI, and real-world execution.
We're a startup. You'll be moving fast, context-switching daily, and helping define the culture and process as we go. This is a rare opportunity to come in early and architect the future of defense.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble, maintain, and repair robotic platforms across land, air, sea, and space
  • Integrate and calibrate sensors, compute, radios, and power systems
  • Run diagnostics, perform firmware updates, and ensure system health
  • Support field testing and live demonstrations by prepping, staging, and deploying robotic assets
  • Perform rapid troubleshooting and reconfiguration in dynamic testing environments
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment status, repairs, and system updates
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to iterate on platform designs and improve reliability
  • Manage robot logistics including staging, transport, and readiness for deployment
  • Help shape operational processes and safety standards as we scale

Qualifications
  • Several years of hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems or robotic hardware
  • Associate's degree in a relevant technical field, trade school completion, or equivalent practical experience
  • Comfortable working with hardware, tools, and test equipment in a lab and field setting
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; able to manage multiple systems and timelines
  • Clear communicator who can collaborate across teams and document work thoroughly
  • Comfortable lifting and transporting equipment (up to 50 lbs)
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping including the use of 3D printers
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required. Certain job duties may involve access to U.S. export-controlled information
  • Bonus: Experience with robotic assets
  • Bonus: Basic proficiency in Python; familiarity with embedded C/C++
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Linux, ROS, or real-time operating environments
  • Bonus: Experience supporting field tests for autonomous or military-grade systems
  • Bonus: Knowledge of embedded systems, sensor calibration, or electrical integration

Why Join Scout
  • Work on the world's most important frontier, ensuring U.S. and allied dominance in the age of intelligent machines
  • Be a core part of a team building the first defense-specific robotic foundation model
  • Collaborate with some of the top engineers in autonomy, AI, and national security
  • See your work deployed on real systems
  • Help define the future of intelligent defense systems
  • Backed by Draper Associates, Booz Allen Ventures, and other top national security investors

Benefits
  • Competitive base salary and bonus
  • Meaningful equity
  • Premium medical, dental, and vision plans with $0 paycheck contribution
  • Competitive PTO and company holiday calendar
  • Catered lunch daily and fully stocked kitchen
  • EV charging
  • Relocation assistance (depending on role eligibility)
