The BCSC Elementary Basketball League (EBL) consists of 11 elementary schools that participate in basketball and cheerleading from October to February. The league consists of one girls' basketball team, one boys' basketball team, and one cheer team per school for a total of 33 teams district-wide. Teams are composed of 5th and 6th grade student-athletes.
Job Description: To manage the day-to-day operations of the elementary basketball league.
Job Tasks: Maintain Event Link account to pay officials, make sure proper league forms and documents are maintained, create game schedules, create tournament schedules, coordinate/schedule/share schedule of game officials for regular season/tournament, conduct athletic director meetings during the season, communicate important information/rules during the season, work with EBL cheerleading coordinator, oversee regular season, maintain a social media presence (posting scores, pictures, and important info via EBL website & social media outlets), have access to buildings- including gyms/offices, work with school personnel/administrative staff on weather-related issues or league issues, and conduct a large, end of year tournament.
Job Skills: Basic basketball knowledge, communication (all forms), organization, time management, handling large sums of money securely, being able to deal with several different groups of people throughout the season (volunteers, school officials, parents, vendors & fans), available on game nights/Saturday morning games/tournament, basic computer knowledge, and manage all aspects of a large tournament event at the end of the season.
Technically, the position runs late September through February. Some work is done in August and sometimes into March.
