Purpose
Leverage industry and financial / transactional experience to originate and execute on financing and advisory opportunities. To ensure that specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives and that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures
What You'll Do
Champion a client centric culture focused on deepening client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to deliver solutions that Scotiabank can provide across its footprint and generate revenue. Relationship management and cross collaboration includes:
Coordinating with the various product groups and industry team within GBM
Developing and maintaining effective industry relationships with clients
Play a lead role in originating and sourcing fee-generating opportunities for Scotiabank in partnership with sector, product, and geographic teams across the organization
Enhance product capabilities; build global industry specialization in key sectors; and drive growth in new international markets
Effectively use knowledge of finance and capital markets to develop effective working relationships with clients and to understand and meet client needs
Development of client solutions and origination of work
Assist the FIG Group with the generation and evaluation of solutions that Scotiabank can provide across its footprint; this includes originating and executing advisory and/or underwriting transactions as well as supporting our corporate banking team on lending solutions, GCM team on hedging solutions, and GBP on deposits/cash management and payment solutions
Assist FIG Group with the generation and evaluation of M&A opportunities and our clients in evaluation of potential acquisitions
Advise clients in preparing data and presentations for advisory and/or underwriting (equity) processes
Provide key inputs for use in financial modeling
Manage the end-to-end process for advisory and equity underwriting transactions, ensuring to meet both client needs and regulatory requirements
Assist with the training and development of junior bankers
Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Develop more junior bankers on their team and across CIB and GBM through active engagement on developing their skills (technical, coverage, and other leadership skills) providing real-time positive and constructive feedback to support their development
Actively partner with group leaders and broader team to build team dynamics and engagement across teams
Assist in resource management and prioritization of work to effectively and efficiently team's time and resources
Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
Build a high performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team
What You'll Bring:
9+ years of industry experience, ideally in Investment Banking, capital markets and/or Mergers & Acquisitions
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science or Technology
Strong understanding of financial markets and sector/product knowledge
Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
Strong written and verbal communication skills
A high level of attention to detail
The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines
The ability to perform effectively in a team environment
High professional standards including a strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork
Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to new situations
