Job description

 

Scorekeeper

The Reisterstown Sportsplex is currently seeking a Scorekeeper for the Adult Hockey league. Individuals must be available to work evenings during the week except for Friday and weekends during the day and evening. Hours will vary depending on game schedules. Weekly average of 5-10 hours/week. 

Job Purpose:

Duties and responsibilities are performed under the supervision and direction of the Hockey Director. Responsible for knowing and enforcing all the laws and rules of the game, as well as knowing and enforcing all rules and regulations set forth by the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for keeping games on time
  • Responsible for assisting referees in keeping rink free of debris
  • Assists referees in checking player equipment and eligibility before games
  • Must write incident reports on any fights, threats, disciplinary penalties, and injuries that may occur during games
  • Notify referees of any sit-outs in game book before the start of the game
  • Operates scoreboard and records player statistics on stats sheet
  • Maintains accurate 'shot on goal' statistics
  • Cleans scorekeeper, penalty, and player boxes in between games and at end of shift
  • Responsible for finding substitute for shifts unable to work
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of hockey rules and regulations
  • Previous experience as a hockey scorekeeper/ timekeeper preferred
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a standard office environment, however all functions named in this section could also be performed on an ice surface in accordance with employment in a recreational facility of which an ice rink or arena is present.

Physical Requirements:

This position can involve sitting, standing, walking, running, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
