Please note that due to Department of Defense contract requirements, U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED. Job Purpose: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for mechanical design and development of electromechanical products

The scope of responsibilities includes complete product development cycle from concept to prototype (NPI) and release to production. In addition, responsibilities include providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Value Analysis Value Engineering support for existing products designed by customers and supporting customers on new product development. Candidate will work with our customers' front end engineering on DFx solution (Manufacturability, Assembly, Cost,Test) on welding, fabrication and machining will be a plus.

The successful candidate shall be extremely polished who can represent Sanmina MSD capabilities, clear communication skills, strong listening capabilities to understand customer requirements and very disciplined on committed deliverables. Nature of Duties: Lead mechanical design and manufacturing activities on assigned projects and may require leading a cross-functional team including managing design partners as needed.

Understand the Scope of work, estimate efforts needed, support customers to generate a comprehensive Statement of Work with expected deliverables, timeline and acceptance criteria. Analyze project requests, proposals, SOW's and other Engineering data to develop, evaluate, modify or design a mechanical solution in conformance to customers requirements. Strong collaboration skills with other internal and external team members such as industrial, manufacturing, electrical, structural, thermal, acoustic and system engineering, Perform VAVE (Value Analysis Value Engineering) to cost down current designs and improve manufacturability without compromising functional design intent.

Work with the manufacturing lead on assigned projects to ensure DFX (Manufacturability, Assembly, Cost) is an integral part of the design. Deliver complete and accurate designs, documentation and BOMs for fabrication, assembly and installation that meet project requirements and complies with applicable US and international codes and standards. Responsible for the quality of design & documentation for all supporting project team members.

Provide technical guidance to manufacturing teams in releasing new designs to production. Interface with supply chain in taking cost out of existing designs by recommending alternate sources or manufacturing processes without compromising customer design intent. Travel to customer sites to support customer designers to provide immediate feedback on their designs through dynamic interaction with their product development teams Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant electromechanical product design and development, manufacturing and DFx engineering experience.

Robust experience in sheet metal and frame fabrication, machining and welding. Ability to perform FEA analysis, seismic, thermal and structural primarily. Help facilitate taking product designs through agency certification.

Excellent communication skills to develop and maintain proactive customer interaction. Proficiency in Solidworks or CREO. Experienced user of PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Project tools.
