Job description

Description
The Courant Institute School of Mathematics, Computing, and Data Science at New York University, seeks candidates for two (2) assistant professor faculty positions, anticipated to begin in September 2026. Faculty members are expected to be outstanding scholars and to participate in teaching at all levels, from undergraduate to doctoral. The aim of this position is to expand in the area of ML/AI for science, with a particular focus on the physical sciences. The ideal candidate will be firmly engaged in computational science, AI methodology, and scientific applications.
The Courant Institute School of Mathematics, Computing, and Data Science furthers NYU's longtime preeminence in mathematics, applied mathematics, data science, computer science, and engineering. The school includes the Department of Mathematics, the Center for Data Science, and the Department of Computer Science.
These positions may include affiliations with the Flatiron Institute Center for Computational Mathematics or the Tandon School of Engineering.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity, as well as market and organization considerations.

Qualifications
Doctoral degree in a related field.
