Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research is looking to fill our Software Developer role. In this position you will also be involved in the development of new software solutions, and support of existing software. You will also provide technical support to employees as needed. This is a great opportunity for motivated individuals who want a chance to work in a fast-paced environment and learn new skills, all in the Latrobe/Youngstown, PA area. US Citizenship is strictly required for national defense and aerospace compliance.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Develop new software and provide technical support for existing software.

  • Provides IT support to end users as needed.

  • Keeps current with technology trends and changes related to position.

  • Provides training and guidance to users on how to operate software solutions.

  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.


Qualifications and Skills:



  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred.

  • 2+ years of software development experience preferred.

  • SQL server database development is a plus.

  • Experience with all or some of these is a bonus but not required: Visual Studio, WinForms, WPF, ASP.NET, MS SQL, T-SQL, SSRS, C#, C++, and Visual Basic.

  • Familiar with source control platforms, Microsoft DevOps with Git, and TFS.

  • Understanding of IT principles and an ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to varied individuals at all organizational levels.

  • Maintain high level of confidentiality and a strong sense of discretion.

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Possess outstanding organizational and time management skills.

  • Understanding of diverse computer systems and networks including virtual computers, Microsoft operating systems, and Remote Desktop environments.

  • Possess knowledge of security and data privacy principles.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work on projects with general direction and minimal guidance.

  • Ability to work in team environment and is flexible to changing demands.
