Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Principal Applications Engineer – Mass Spectrometry to support the development, implementation, and optimization of advanced analytical solutions using mass spectrometry technologies. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise, application knowledge, and customer-facing skills to deliver solutions, troubleshoot complex issues, and support scientific workflows across research and industrial environments.

This role requires collaboration with engineering, product management, sales, and customers to drive successful adoption and optimization of mass spectrometry-based applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and application support for mass spectrometry solutions.
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot analytical workflows using mass spectrometry technologies.
  • Support customers with instrument configuration, application development, method optimization, and technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and product teams to improve product performance and usability.
  • Conduct demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and technical presentations for customers.
  • Analyze customer requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Perform data analysis and interpretation of mass spectrometry results.
  • Create technical documentation, application notes, training materials, and user guides.
  • Support validation, testing, and implementation of new applications and features.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends in mass spectrometry and analytical sciences.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2–6 years of experience working with Mass Spectrometry applications, analytical instruments, or scientific software solutions.
  • Strong understanding of mass spectrometry principles, workflows, and data interpretation.
  • Experience with instrument operation, method development, and application optimization.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing technical role is preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with LC-MS, GC-MS, or high-resolution mass spectrometry systems.
  • Knowledge of proteomics, metabolomics, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or analytical chemistry applications.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry data analysis software and laboratory information systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory workflows, instrument validation, and regulatory environments.
  • Experience supporting technical sales, field applications, or customer training.
