Job Description

The Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of laboratory operations to ensure scientific excellence, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction. This role provides strategic, technical, and people leadership to deliver high-quality laboratory outputs that meet corporate goals and industry standards. The Laboratory Operations Manager builds and maintains the systems, people, and processes that enable consistent, compliant, and scalable laboratory performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead overall laboratory performance, ensuring quality, compliance, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
  • Translate business strategy into operational execution, including capacity, services, and technology.
  • Own throughput, financial performance, and key performance metrics.
  • Build and optimize workflows, systems, and team structure for scalable operations.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, audit readiness, data integrity, and safety standards.
  • Implement technology, automation, and process improvements to enhance performance.
  • Develop and lead a high-performing team, fostering accountability and continuous growth.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams and support client and business needs.
  • Communicate performance, risks, and improvements to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong client, auditor, and external relationships.
  • Drive continuous improvement and remove operational barriers.
  • Optimize resources while upholding ethical and scientific standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Engineering); advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in laboratory operations, including 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards (FDA, ISO 17025, USP, GLP, or GMP).
  • Proven experience managing teams, budgets, and process improvement initiatives in a technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, drive organizational change, and communicate effectively across all levels.
