Full-Time Middle School Science Teacher (Grades 6, 7 & 8)
Our Lady of Mount Carmel (OLMC), a Catholic elementary school, is searching for a full-time Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. OLMC, with its fully degreed faculty, takes pride in its Archdiocesan curriculum and programs. OLMC offers a wide range of educational, spiritual and extracurricular activities. Its motivated students, engaged parents, expert staff, and its supportive parish family are the hallmarks of OLMC. The candidate should be competent at instructing middle school students and ensuring their spiritual and academic growth. In addition, the candidate must be able to assist students who may need additional support.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities would include creating an engaging learning environment that fosters academic and spiritual growth, develops middle school students' skills and a love of learning. The candidate should be competent at instructing middle school students and ensuring their spiritual and academic growth. In addition, the candidate must be able to assist students who may need additional support.
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans that address spiritual, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.
  • Report grades weekly, including any missing assignments, weekly using our FACTS Management System.
  • Facilitate laboratory lessons using our science lab that will require modeling lab safety and instruction utilizing science equipment.
  • Use diverse instructional techniques such as modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.
  • Adapt curriculum to meet individual learning needs and initiate referrals when necessary.
  • Promote positive behavior through redirection, positive reinforcement, and adherence to the school's behavioral policies.
  • Maintain positive communication with families through newsletters, daily updates, and as-needed outreach.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and participate in annual reviews and professional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and teacher certification are required.
  • Minimum of 2 years classroom experience, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of middle school students' developmental stages.
  • Strong understanding of earth science, biology, and chemistry.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
  • Commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and faith-based environment.
  • A practicing member of the Catholic faith, preferred.
